The GLIM M-40S is a 40 W Class A
power amplifier and features completely symmetrical circuit using
nothing but triodes without overall feedback. A low distortion and
detailed sound is achieved by using only three amplifying stages,
specially designed output power transformer, silvered wiring and quality
components. A rigid chassis and wooden frame can be made according to
the wishes of the customer. In the model displayed, a mahogany frame and
black, powder paint coated chassis plate have been used.
The GLIM M-40S is a wide
bandwidth balanced audio power amplifier with excellent performance
characteristic. Four selected 6080 military specified double triodes have
been used in the power stage to amplify the signal for the output
transformer with symmetrical and sectional design. The driver stage is
operating with high supply voltage to be able to generate high voltage
undistorted signal peaks to the power tube grids. Additionally, cross
coupled input and phase inverter stage is self balancing and the input
signal for the following symmetrical stages is maintained optimal.
The complete circuit is without
overall feedback and therefore responds rapidly to transients and peak
signals without the usual damping or softening effects on the sound. With
careful design and optimum selection of tube operating points and tube loads
the frequency response is from 12 Hz...48 kHz (-1 dB) without significant
phase and harmonic distortion.
